چکیده

Abstract Background and Aims Improvement in quality of life survival have been reported after parathyroidectomy patients with end-stage kidney disease. In addition to bone loss, protein-energy wasting has also linked excess parathyroid hormone (PTH) level. The present study examined the changes nutritional parameters receiving maintenance hemodialysis compared non-parathyroidectomized patients. Method One hundred eighty-seven who underwent during 2012–2018 were identified (PTX group) matched 1:1 479 levels ≤1000 pg/mL (non-PTX control 187 PTH >1000 (pre-PTX by propensity score. matchings yielded 120 pairs from PTX non-PTX groups (cohort 1) 76 pre-PTX 2). Baseline follow-up data over 12-month period. Results cohort 1, substantially lower serum albumin creatinine/body surface area (Cr/BSA) higher proportions ≤38 g/L (low albumin) Cr/BSA ≤380 μmol/L/m2 Cr/BSA) observed group. These percentage total lymphocyte count <800 cells/mm3 TLC) improved parathyroidectomy. At follow-up, albumin, low became comparable TLC was at Mixed-models analysis confirmed significant differences Cr/BSA, between two groups. 2, there no difference baseline parameters. body mass index (BMI) ≤18.5 kg/m2, Weight gain more frequent greater magnitude group both cohorts. Higher level, creatinine significantly associated ≥10% increase BMI. Conclusion Parathyroidectomy improvement severe hyperparathyroidism.

Nutritional Status and Immune Functions in Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients

Epidemiological studies suggest various kinds of immune dysregulation in hemodialysis (HD) patients. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between immune functions and nutritional status of HD patients. We studied 54 patients with ESRD on chronic HD, included 34 females and 20 males with mean age 46.6 +/- 16.3 (18-77) years. We measured the height and dry weight of all patie...

Assessment of Adequacy of Hemodialysis and Nutritional Status in Patients on Maintenance Hemodialysis at Dialysis Centre

Background: In patients suffering from ESRD quality of life can be maintained by hemodialysis, CAPD or renal transplant. Adequate dose of hemodialysis is necessary for good quality of life. The hemodialysis adequacy is one of the most important issues influencing the survival of patients on maintenance hemodialysis. Aim: To compare Kt/V measurement by online clearance module with conventional e...

The Effect of Oral Nutritional Supplement on Nutritional Status of Hemodialysis Patients in a Military Hospital

Background and Aim: Malnutrition is a common problem for hemodialysis patients, leading to reduced quality of life, increased hospitalization, and increased mortality. Evaluation of nutritional status is one of the main determinants of the clinical status. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of oral nutritional supplements (Iso Whey) on the nutritional status of hemodialysis pat...

Impacts of parathyroidectomy on renal anemia and nutritional status of hemodialysis patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism.

The aim of this study was to investigate the impacts of parathyroidectomy (PTX) towards the renal anemia and nutritional status of hemodialysis patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT). 32 patients, enrolled into the blood purification center of our hospital for the hemodialysis treatment, were collected and divided into the PTX group and the non-PTX group, with 16 patients in each gr...

Evaluation of Nutritional Status in Hemodialysis Patients

Malnutrition is a common problem among hemodialysis patients. This factor leads to increased morbidity and mortality. This study evaluates the nutritional status of patients on dialysis and analyzes the various parameters used for assessing malnutrition. It is a cross-sectional study of 35 patients aged 18 years and up who have undergone dialysis three days a week for more than a year. The foll...
